Susan's Surprise Part 1 - Huck's Cafe

Well, basically Huck's Cafe is not exactly the surprise but what we had been planning to go for weeks! Neacail decided to set it on Susan's birthday so that we have something to celebrate about! 

Huck's Cafe is sort of like the underground supper club whereby it's not a restaurant, but you will be dining in a private residence; a bungalow in Bangsar to be exact. They have limited seating capacity so prior reservation is a definite must. You will be in a surprise if you expect to have a menu or waiters reciting the menu for you! Each dish is made specially only for you based on your personal preferences as well as the freshest in the market that day. Our meal package was RM88++ per person and the only orders we made were just specify what type of meat that we want and what are the list of food that you don't take.(For mine, it is a long list! Lol)

The exterior of the bungalow is simple but the inside decor is classy and elegant whereby it's being decorated by wine bottles and liquors. You can also choose to have your dinner at their little garden if you are going for a romantic mood.

We started off with a simple starter, very Malaysian-ish and as we were starving, all these are gone within minutes! 

Drinks of the day, they actually served 2 different type of drinks in one meal.

3 Monsters and Mamee Monster 

Sometimes I really don't understand why Susan will say us naughty whereas we 3 are the ones that actually listens to her and take all the jobs she throws to us!

You can opt for either Mushroom soup or Pumpkin soup. The Mushroom soup is to die for as it's not that creamy and thick, and I think it is the best I have ever tried so far! The Pumpkin soup is not bad with its rich and creamy texture as well but can't compare to the Mushroom!

Neacail's Lamb Stew - Though I don't eat lamb, they say that it's quite nice and probably the best dish among all!

Owen's Beef Shepherd's Pie - Not really the best and Owen said that he's actually not full. A thin fella with such a big appetite! 

Yeo's Assam fish with rice - We were quite surprised by this dish as we did not expect it to be Malay dish. I guess we were all thinking that the cooking style is more to Western. Though the fish were admittedly good, but for the price we paid, we expect it to be a little more worth the money. 

Susan's Cheesy Breaded Fish Pasta - The portion is seriously big especially that whole big slab of fish on top of angel hair spaghetti. It was a nice match with the crispy fish fillet, however it does get a little too crammed!

Lastly my Apple Cava Chicken - I do make the right choice for choosing chicken as my main dish, as this is a new dish creating by Huck! The chicken with an apple as stuffing and marinated with Spanish Cava repeatedly so that the aroma and taste are deep within the tender meats of the chicken! Doesn't it sound heavenly? It does and tastes like it too! The only complaint is that the portion is too small even though I actually have quite a small appetite! 

Dessert time! Durian Mudcake - It's durian with cashew nuts, 2 of my favourite things in the world! The durian tasted rich and creamy, without the artificial taste!

Creme Brulee - Lovely and voted best of all desserts!

Oh ya, they also served Coffee and Tea after the meal so you could actually just chit chat and enjoy the ambiance!

The real surprise is when she goes to work the next morning and found all these after the Mangement meeting! 

Her life size mock up board, banner, window 'graffiti', tent card, birthday cake, jelly cakes, Delectatable's choc birthday cake, and also flowers from a mysterious stranger! We actually ask our supplier to do it for us FOC! I think she actually might be so touched till the tears welling up in her eyes? Lol

Marketing team and the most liveliest team in the whole office! When the boss treats us good, this is the surprise you will get! 

We got another surprise for Susan (from me, Owen and Neacail) at KL's newest spot with a spectacular view! Stay tuned!
